Grünberg Recreational Area

The recreational area and hikers’ paradise on the Gmunden local mountain offers an effortless way to enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the Traunsee Lake from its very top!

The barrier-free Grünberg cable car carries you up effortlessly 600 metres to the top of the mountain where numerous exciting attractions await you: the 1.4 km long “Grünberg Flitzer” summer toboggan run, an easy panoramic circuit trail, a hiking trail to the Laudachsee Lake, embedded between the Grünberg Mountain and the neighbouring majestic Traunstein Mountain, or relax with a hearty snack and drink at the Grünbergalm Inn.

The adventure playground and low ropes course are a paradise for children at an altitude of about 1,000 metres on the Grünberg plateau! The large playground, located right below the extended terrace and lookout platform of the Grünbergalm Inn, leaves nothing to be desired – your kids will love it!

From their launch site in the immediate vicinity of the Grünbergalm Inn, paragliders and hang gliders take off into the air, flying high above the beautiful Salzkammergut Lake District with breathtaking views of mountains and valleys.

Another highlight is the 3D archery course, located right at the foot of the Traunstein Mountain behind the “Seegasthof Hois’n Wirt” inn. Extending over almost 7 hectares in the forest, the course is laid out for traditional archery, with 28 stations featuring local and exotic 3D targets. Open 365 days a year – sports and fun in the great outdoors is guaranteed!

Treetop Walkway

Get up into the treetops and set out on the Grünberg treetop walkway.
– a unique nature experience in the Salzkammergut Lake District. Highlight of the 1,400-metre long walk is the 39 m high lookout platform with a breathtaking view of the entire Salzkammergut Lake District, from the Traunsee Lake to the Dachstein Mountain. Along the path you’ll learn lots of interesting facts about the region’s flora and fauna, history and geology. There’s also plenty of time to rest and relax, to take some time out in the midst of nature!

Easily accessible & family-friendly
With a maximum gradient of 6%, the treetop walkway and lookout platform are pushchair and wheelchair accessible. The netted railing offers unobstructed views. Explorers young and old will just love the stations set along the path and designed for play and adventure.
