Gmunden
Idyllic Retreat on the Shores of the Traunsee Lake

WELCOME to the vacation region Traunsee-Almtal and the small historic town of Gmunden! We are pleased to welcome you, virtually in the ceramic city also called seenswert&stilvoll. We also hope to welcome you soon in person at the Traunsee! Here, the hills of the Alpine foothills merge picturesquely into the magnificent mountain world of the Northern Limestone Alps, and in the midst of this splendor lies the crystal-clear Traunsee, 12.2 km long, 2.9 km wide and 191 m deep, making it the deepest lake in Austria.
The guardian of the Salzkammergut, the striking, mighty Traunstein, whose steep rock faces rise 1200 meters from the Traunsee, is a special landmark of the Traunsee region. And it is precisely in this imposing scenery that the majestic town of Gmunden is located.
The Traunsee town is a place of atmosphere and contrasts, a place for exuberant hours and quiet moments. A place to reflect and pause, or simply to relax!

Excursion tip
For nature lovers: take the Grünberg cable car up to the Grünberg (tree top walk with a 75 meter long slide, summer toboggan run, low ropes course, and Grünbergalm)
