Night Watchman

Way back in the Middle Ages, due to its strategically favourable location in the Salzburg Ennstal Valley – beside the pass road across the Radstädter Tauern Mountains – Radstadt grew into a flourishing trade town. At that time the first night watchman began to walk his round through Radstadt. Also today, lots of interesting sights and hidden nooks await to be discovered between the old town wall, parish church and monastery of the historic small town. History comes alive when the Radstadt night watchman wearing traditional clothing and carrying his halberd sings the famous night watchman song. Join him on his round – he has many stories and legends of bygone days to tell!

Paul Hofhaimer Days

Art and culture are not the prerogative of large towns – for more than three decades the “Festival of Old Music and New Sounds” has attracted music lovers to the Small Historic Town of Radstadt. The music festival owes its name to the musician Paul Hofhaimer, the most important composer and organist of his time who was born in Radstadt in 1459. Enjoy unique concerts in special settings for striking listening experiences: from large-scale famous choral works to compositions by young talents or readings accompanied by music in concert halls, the Höch Castle, in churches, inns and even in a production hall.

Enjoy a concert programme of the highest quality presented by first-rate artists and musicians!
