Bad Ischl

Imperial Villa and Imperial Park

Visit the originally preserved rooms of Empress “Sisi” Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph. Here, over decades, European history was made. In 1914, the emperor declared war on Serbia setting forth his motives in his manifesto titled “To My People” that was signed in Bad Ischl. The declaration of war on Serbia sparked off incidents which in the end led to the outbreak of the 1st World War. The Imperial Villa is surrounded by the spacious Imperial Park, home to the “Marmorschlössl”, Sisi’s former tea house, and a magnificent landscape garden with blooming flowers, trees, small forests and alleys, to be explored along beautifully laid-out pathways.
