For those who love gardens and admire art and architecture this route is meant for you! Starting point is Bad Radkersburg in southern Styria located close to the Slovenian border. The Old Town is known for its thermal springs, delicious wines and Mediterranean flair where you can relax in the greenery of the expansive spa gardens while being within steps of the town centre’s impressive arcade courtyards. Continue on to the north but make sure to stay off the motorway and enjoy a delightful trip through the hilly countryside of eastern Styria via Bad Gleichenberg and Feldbach until you reach the garden city of Hartberg. Its shady main square, also the location of the oldest market in Styria, compels you to stop and relax where historical buildings and garden art blend into a beautiful unity. There is good reason why Hartberg has been certified as a “Citta slow” a distinction that stands for relaxation and a slower pace of life. Make sure to see the old trees and newly laid out climate woodlands in the castle park as well as the Hartberger Karner ossuary – a jewel of art history. Then head towards Mönichkirchen and Wiener Neustadt until you reach Baden bei Wien, a city known for its beautiful garden landscapes especially the rosarium and the spa gardens. The city’s imperial history is visible everywhere rounding off and making the perfect ending for a wonderful trip.
